In an era of tik-tok and reels, surely you’ve seen the puck light sconce hack by now, yah?
It’s essentially the greatest thing ever.
You purchase some battery operated puck lights (controlled by a remote) and stick/glue/adhere them inside of legitimate sconces, then hang on a wall as if you’re an electrician and just installed brand new lights.
I’ve been dying to try that hack for a long time now; but then I got side tracked by something even more miraculous: a DIY mason jar sconce!
What!
This idea fit the vibe perfectly for a horse trailer renovation I was doing. (Oh yeah, btw I did a makeover on a horse trailer mobile bar, detailed tutorials coming soon!)
So let’s get after it.
Tools I used:
Materials I used:
Scrap piece of wood
Any type of hook
A string of twinkle lights
Florals (real or fake)
Let’s go:
I literally grabbed two pieces of scrap wood from my garage for this DIY.
You can purchase hobby boards from any big box store or craft store if you don’t have any scraps at home!
I used ½” plywood for my backers.
I stained them in Early American stain.
I attached the sawtooth hanger to the back first.
Then screwed in my L-shaped hook.
Added the wire handle hanger to the mason jar.
And used my wire cutters to snip down the stems on my fake florals from Michael’s.
I shoved the string of twinkle lights inside the mason jar.
Then added the florals with the prettiest parts facing what I wanted to be “the front”.
Lastly, you just hang the mason jar from your hook using the wire handle.
Viola!
Can you believe that’s it?
You can stain or paint the backer any color you want, to match any area of your home (or renovated horse trailer!)
You can change the florals out for fake or real plants throughout the year, even using holiday florals as the seasons change.
Instantly add mood vibe lighting to any area. It’s fantastic.
I would love to see your version and hear about what space you added yours too, comment down below!
